Let’s learn about the weather!

Hello Students and Parents,

We are beginning our journey in learning about the earth's systems, more specifically its weather, and weather patterns. Although we live in beautiful Hawai'i (in which our weather is pretty consistent) we do go through some changes throughout the year.

As complex thinkers, we are going to be using our observation skills to predict and identify different sorts of weather characteristics and patterns. This will be a week full of fun content and activities.

1. Let's Make a Weather Journal...

Weather Journal by Erin Ward | Teachers Pay Teachers
Our class will be creating a weather journal in which they can draw and describe the type of weather they observe.

-What is the date?

-What time is it?

-Is it cold, warm, hot?

-Is the sun out?

-Is the moon out?

-Are there any clouds in the sky?

-Do I feel any wind?

-etc...

These are some of the observations that can help our Weather journal. We can make our observations at home, school, pretty much wherever you may go. I have added a fun Read-Aloud called "Weather" that tells us about the weather and the types of activities we may do in certain weather.

2. What are the seasons?

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall... What does it all mean, what does it all bring? Below I have attached a fun little song that will help us in our learning of the earth systems as well. Who doesn't love a good song to help us remember:)

I hope these two activities have helped in providing a fun foundation in learning about weather! I look forward to seeing everyone's weather journals and hearing a good season song.

Parents, I would love to hear your thoughts about these collaborative activities that I will try and incorporate as a part of our year-long journey. I think it is important that we all are able to be on the same page in what our children are learning.

Mahalo,

Ms. Lorenzo
